Purpose of Job: The Head Chef is responsible for the culinary quality, innovation and experience of the catering operation at this Healthcare facility . The post-holder motivates, trains, develops and directs team members to deliver delicious, nutritious food in line with dietary recommendations, exceptional service, and accomplish daily goals and projects. This position oversees the daily administrative and operational tasks of their area of responsibility, including budgeting, inventory, sanitation and safety.  The position will leverage strong culinary and operational skills to partner with key stakeholders in meeting the goals of the catering function.

This is a full-time permanent post working 7 shifts per fortnight

Applicant Must:

  • Hold a degree in Culinary Arts or an equivalent / similar qualification.
  • 5 years in a professional kitchen in similar position with like volume and quality food service establishment
  • 2 to 3 years management in in similar operational environment at chef manager level

The Ideal Candidate will Have:

  • Previous experience meeting residents needs with respect to complex dietary requirements, texture varieties and preferences
  • Experience in implementing a full H.A.C.C.P. programme
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A proven track record in Kitchen Management and budgeting in a busy large volume unit
  • Strong passion for great food and hospitality
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Positive attitude under pressure and an ability motivate teams
  • A working knowledge of MS word and excel
  • A proven track record of managing time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines
  • Good judgement and decision making skills
